Reflection on 2020 and Goals for Next Year

I think I’ll write a reflection this year as well, but it’s becoming more tedious each year, so I’ll keep it brief.

Good Purchases

I believe 2021 was the year I spent the most in my life.

• Wedding
• Moving
• Car
• M1 Macbook Air
• Office chair

I feel like I bought a bunch of other small things too.

I tend to be a bit frugal, but it was a year of meaningful expenses.

Work

I’ve been feeling quite busy! (Not that I was originally free or anything…)

I’m doing various things, but I’ll leave the details to my resume and published articles.

Learning

In terms of tangible achievements, I obtained the AWS SAA certification. I want to obtain SAP in 2022.
I’ve been gradually writing Go. I also participated in GoCon for the first time and gave a presentation.
Continuing from 2020, I participated in ISUCon again in 2021. The result was that I didn’t make it past the preliminaries...
Since I focused on input this year, looking back at Trello, I can see several tasks related to that.
Output was minimal. In that sense, it might have been a vague year.
I think 2021 will also be a year focused on learning in areas outside of applications.

Reflection on Goals

My goal for 2021 was to "turn weaknesses into strengths."
I think I did fairly well in reducing my discomfort with infrastructure.

Goals for 2021

This year, instead of a slogan-like approach, I aimed for something more concrete: "Increase the number of clear answers to the question of what I can do."
As I turn 30 this year, I feel the need for long-term investments looking towards the next 5 to 10 years, and as part of that, I want to clarify my strengths.

Thoughts

I want to make the excuse that there isn’t enough time to summarize everything I’ve thought about over the year.
