WP is the most used CMS out there right now. Although lots of people complain about it (often for good reasons), there are many agencies around the world relying solely on it to build sites.

There are plenty of plugins that allow you to deal with almost any scenarios. The Advanced Custom Fields plugin used in this post is a great example.

I think the plugin ecosystem around WordPress is what makes it so popular--and, ironically, more vulnerable to security breaches.

Regarding scaling: it's not a static site on a CDN, so you will need a decent server. But, again, there are lots of plugins for caching, optimization, etc. that can be added to your application.

Hope this helps!

Thank you very much for taking your time to answer my questions.

I read much good and bad about WP and most bad was abut the plugins you mention. My girlfriend works in such an agency and she can't count the plugin related issues anymore.

If I need them to control my custom data structures because WP doesn't deliver this out of the box, I'd rather pass :)
