Hema di, I won't be adding any new hacks for this week, also, I missed another issue of IND-TECH-WEEKLY😔.
Cause I'm preparing for my exams a week after and the Hacktoberest Event simultaneously.😅
But hope you have a great week!😄
Of course, no problem at all, bhai. All the best with both your exams and Hacktoberfest! You’ve got this 🙌 And don’t worry about the Radar or IND-TECH-WEEKLY, focus on your exams first. Hope you have a great week too 😀
Hema, I really liked the part about seeing what happens after an opportunity is published. A weekly list is useful on its own, but the possibility of someone coming back later and sharing what they applied for, learned, or discovered makes the Radar feel much more alive. I think that’s one of the things that makes this series different from simply finding a list of opportunities online. ☺️
Thank you, Shubhra! That’s actually something I really want to see more of with the Radar. It would be nice to hear what people ended up applying to or what they found along the way. Hopefully we can build more of that over time 💙
to Pear Prime back in 2025 cycle — the screening round took 11 days just to get a response, so anyone considering it should plan around that lag, not the posted timeline. The Hacktoberfest listing is solid but the real value for first-timers is picking repos with
good first issuelabels that actually have maintainers who review PRs. I wasted two weeks on a repo where the maintainer went silent after merge.Thank you for sharing this 😀 I didn’t know about the 11-day response time for Pear Prime, and the Hacktoberfest tip is really helpful too.
I am new here But very Informative
Thank you! Means a lot. Hope you enjoy the future editions too. I post a new one every Friday 😃
Thank you so much for doing this! I'm sure it takes a ton of work. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. Congrats to 19 editions!
Thank you so much 🧡 It definitely takes some time, but seeing readers find something useful through the Radar makes it all worth it 😃
hema, this weekly radar is literally my roadmap as a solo dev.
i’m currently grinding the hacktoberfest open-source ai challenge you featured here, building an edge-compute ai mentor on a $150 phone. finding curated, high-signal opportunities like this (and the $20k ai agent hackathon you linked) saves indie devs hours of doom-scrolling through spam.
thanks for doing the heavy lifting and filtering the noise for the community every friday. it genuinely changes careers. 🐯🗺️
This is so cool to hear! I’m really glad you found the Hacktoberfest challenge through the Radar, and your project sounds really interesting. All the best with the build 😀
And if you’re comfortable, I’d love to hear how it goes once you make some progress. I’d be happy to feature your update in a future 💙 Reader Updates section too!
hema, that would be an absolute honor! 💙
i would love to share an update with you for the reader updates section. right now, i’m deep in the trenches refining koda’s mobile-first architecture (keeping the bundle under 92kb for cheap android phones on 3g networks) and fixing some real-world edge cases based on direct user feedback.
i’ll reach out to you in a couple of weeks once i’ve shipped the next major update, and i'll provide a clean, concise summary of the progress, the hardware constraints, and the lessons learned so it's easy for you to feature.
thank you so much for curating these opportunities and for being so supportive of indie builders. it genuinely makes a massive difference. 🐯
this discuss explanation helped, thanks
Thank you 😀
Hema, 19 editions in, that is real consistency. Graph Hacks is a direct fit for me this time. The Agent Memory and Coordination track matches my MCP and retrieval work closely. To answer your question, I would love to see more hackathons built around agent infrastructure and memory systems, not just agent apps on top of someone else's stack. That is the layer I work in most. Thank you for still doing this every Friday.
Thank you so much, Daniel 😀 I’ll keep this in mind for sure while searching, and if I come across anything like this, I’ll include it!
19 editions is such an awesome milestone! I really appreciate how you manually verify every opportunity instead of just scraping random listings. The Pear Prime breakdown and Graph Hacks hackathon caught my eye immediately, plus that free LLM scaling book looks perfect for my current learning goals. This weekly round‑up consistently saves me hours of hunting for events.
Thank you so much @pixquill 😀 I do spend quite a bit of time checking them before adding them, so it really means a lot that you noticed. And I’m happy you found a few useful ones this week. Hope you enjoy the next editions too 💙
These are some of my most favorite content on this site and i eagerly wait for these.
Thank you so much, Kanak! Means a lot to me 😀
What opportunities, communities, grants, fellowships, hackathons, conferences, or resources have you come across recently that deserve more attention?
I'm always looking for things to include in future editions, so feel free to share anything interesting you've found. If I feature one of your finds in a future edition, I'll always make sure to credit you.
If you discovered an opportunity through the radar, applied to something, joined a community, attended an event, or simply found something you hadn't seen before, I'd genuinely love to hear about that too. With your permission, I'd be happy to feature your update in a future 💙 Reader Updates section.
Small request: If you are sharing a link, please avoid posting raw URLs directly. DEV sometimes filters them before I get a chance to see the comment.
Also, We’re already 19 editions in!
I wanted to ask you all something. What kind of opportunities would you love to see more of in the Radar?
More Fellowships? Hackathons? AI opportunities? Learning programs? Communities? Or something completely different?
I can’t promise I’ll be able to find more of a specific type, since it really depends on what’s available and whether I think it’s actually useful enough to include. But if you tell me what you’d like to see more of, I’ll definitely keep it in the back of my mind while I’m searching each week.
Even if just a few of you share what you’re looking for, it would mean a lot to me.
Wow 19 editions already!! Congrats!
Thanks for sharing, I will try to read How to Scale Your Model.
Thank you for being here and supporting the Radar from the very beginning, Julien 💙
Hope you enjoy the "How to Scale Your Model" book 😀
Huge congrats on 19 editions, Hemapriya! That level of weekly consistency is incredible.
Highlighting "How to Scale Your Model" is great. Most AI content stays stuck at basic prompting, so finding material that actually covers the systems engineering side like sharding, GPU communication, and tensor parallelism is really refreshing.
To answer your question on what to feature next: I would love to see more hackathons and programs focused on backend infrastructure, distributed data pipelines, and systems engineering. Thanks for putting this together every Friday!
Thank you 😀 I will keep this in mind for sure while searching, and if I come across anything like this, I will include it!
I really like the idea behind this series. There are so many hackathons, open-source events, programs, and learning resources out there that it’s honestly easy to miss the right opportunity at the right time.
What I appreciate most is that this isn’t just a list of links. The context around who each opportunity is for and what you can actually get out of it makes the list much more useful.
Hacktoberfest and Graph Hacks especially caught my attention. Sometimes you don’t need another tutorial—you just need a reason to build something and a deadline to get started.
And 19 editions of consistently putting this together is impressive. Thanks for doing the discovery work for the community and making these opportunities easier to find.
That’s exactly what I’m hoping the Radar can be, not just a list of links but a little more context so readers can decide if something is for them. Thank you for being here and supporting the series 😀
High quality write-up! Breaking down complex engineering nuances into pragmatic, actionable takeaways is rare. Really enjoyed this! 🌟
Thank you, Jason! Glad you enjoyed it 😀
