Cloudflare vs Namecheap: Which .com Renewal Is Cheaper in 2026?
Namecheap is where many of us bought our first domain. Cloudflare Registrar is where many of us move it. The reason is simple: renewal price. Here is the honest comparison.
The renewal prices
Prices checked 28 October 2026:
- Cloudflare Registrar — $10.44 total. At-cost pricing: Verisign wholesale $10.26 + $0.18 ICANN fee, with no markup at all.
- Namecheap — $18.48 total. That is $8.04 more per year, every year, for the same .com.
- Over five years, one domain costs about $52 at Cloudflare versus about $92 at Namecheap — a $40 difference for nothing extra.

What you actually get
Cloudflare sells domains at cost and includes free WHOIS privacy. The catch: you must use Cloudflare's nameservers, and the dashboard is built for people comfortable with DNS settings. It is not the friendliest first registrar.
Namecheap costs more, but the dashboard is easier, support answers faster, and moving a domain in or out is simple. For a beginner, that ease is worth something — just not $8 a year forever.
Which one should you pick?
- You are comfortable with DNS: Cloudflare wins on price, every time.
- You want the easiest dashboard and support: Namecheap is fine — just know you are paying a premium for it.
- You have several domains: the saving multiplies. Ten domains save about $80 a year at Cloudflare.
One warning before you renew
Verisign's wholesale .com price rises from $10.26 to $10.97 on 1 November 2026, so at-cost renewals will creep up everywhere. If your domain expires soon, renewing before that date locks in the current rate. Bottom line: Cloudflare is the cheaper renewal by a clear margin. Namecheap is the easier experience. Pick the one that matches how hands-on you want to be.
