The Cheapest Way to Renew a .com Domain in 2026

Renewing a .com domain should cost about $10–$11. If you are paying $20 or more, you are paying a markup, not a registry fee. The wholesale cost of a .com is $10.26 plus an $0.18 ICANN fee — $10.44 total. Registrars that charge near that are passing the real cost on. Registrars that charge $19.99 or $22.99 are adding their margin on top.

Here is what the major registrars actually charge to renew a .com, checked 24 October 2026: Cloudflare $10.44 at cost, Spaceship $10.18 total, Dynadot $10.88, Porkbun $11.08, Namecheap $18.48, Hostinger $19.99, IONOS $20.00, GoDaddy $22.99.

The cheapest move depends on your situation. If your domain is with a cheap registrar already, just renew there. If it is with an expensive one, transfer it — the transfer fee is usually about the same as one year of renewal at the cheap registrar, and it adds a year. And if you manage several domains, moving them all to one cheap registrar saves the most.

One caution: the first-year price a registrar advertises is almost never the renewal price. Always check the renewal rate before you register — that is the price you will pay every year after.
