This morning I stumbled upon bolt.new hackathon and thought it would be interesting to participate to see how far AI can take an idea to a fully functioning application and perhaps I will learn a few things along the way.
I am used to AI in programming, using Github Copilot everyday, but never really used an AI online editor such as bolt.new for something bigger than a landing page or a simple mini-game. I guess it's time to give it a go!
π Day 1
First step is to register here, then you have to wait for the Builder Pack, which includes a free Bolt.new Pro subscription and other goodies. Given that more than 60k participants have registered it might take some time!
While waiting for receiving the email, it's time to brainstorm and plan.
π‘ The idea
This is going to be fun, more on that tomorrow when I (hopefully) receive the builder pack and register the domain name.
π§° Tech Stack
While I am proficient using React and Nextjs, I see this hackathon as an opportunity to try something new. I want to give building mobile applications a go and/or learn a new framework.
I hesitated between Nuxt + Capacitor and Expo to build a cross platform app easily and decided to go the Expo route.
For the backend I'm going to use something new too, Appwrite! I am familiar with Supabase, Convex, and Firebase but never given that one a shot, it looks promising.
That's it for today, see you tomorrow for day 2 π

Have you considered getting a team mate? I am also in the hackathon and have a couple solid ideas but I also am not a coder and using no-code tools. I do not have much more experience than you do. Let me know if your interested. Maybe between the both of us we could build something cool and of value.
