Open data registries are only useful when a reader can check the fact. A registry that lists startup programs should show the source URL and the date it was checked, not just a logo and a number.
Sourcey is an example: its startup-credits registry records the source URL and read date for each program it lists (sourcey.com/startup-credits). That makes the claim verifiable: a reader can open the vendor page and see the program terms for themselves.
The same standard applies to any open data project. A fact without a source is a rumor with a table around it.
If you maintain a registry, add two fields to every record: the URL you read and the date you read it. If you use one, check those fields before you cite it.
