A deep dive into troubleshooting unstable USB connections, from isolating port and cable faults to evaluating hubs, direct motherboard routing, and adjusting Windows power management settings.
The first steps to identifying the problem
Before you do anything else, try restarting your computer. You can then check which component is at fault by trying the device in a different port or by plugging a different device into the same port. If a device is having problems in all ports and on different computers, then the device itself is probably at fault. Conversely, if several accessories are having issues in only one specific port, the problem is located there.
Carefully examine the plug, cable, and port for any damage, bent metal parts, tears, or accumulated dirt. If you find dust or debris inside a port, you can carefully clean it out with a wooden toothpick and short blasts of compressed air.
External power strips can sometimes cause problems, especially simple models, so using a model with an external power supply plugged directly into the wall outlet offers better results. In desktop computers, the ports on the back are connected directly to the motherboard and have less loss than those on the front.

Energy saving settings
In Windows, you can change your power management settings in Device Manager so that your computer doesn't close ports to save power. Additionally, you can disable port hibernation in the advanced options of your power plan.
program updates and other causes
Old or corrupted programs that help the device communicate with the computer can be updated or reinstalled through Device Manager, while tools like USBDeview can help you identify the ports.
Sometimes the device itself may have been damaged by being dropped or exposed to liquids. Also, remember that not all ports and cables support data transfer, charging, or video playback. Power limitations or the need for higher-quality cables may also occur with USB ports on TVs, cars, or routers.
If your device continues to not work on any port or computer, it's worth contacting its manufacturer for support.
