Mark Wahlberg discussed AI in filmmaking at TechCrunch Disrupt, outlining where he draws the line between using digital tools for set enhancement and replacing human talent or automated script generation.
Speaking at a technology event, the actor explained that he is considering using artificial intelligence programs in a new film about the life of former athlete Pete Rose, in which he will star. As he clarified, the technology could be used to improve the scenery on the field, emphasizing, however, that the heart of a film should remain good storytelling, while clarifying that he does not believe in using artificial intelligence to write scripts or replace real actors.
Referring to special facilities that create digital copies of actors, he said he has not visited one, but is open to the idea. He said it would be interesting if his children or grandchildren had control of his digital image in the future, so that they could put him in good films even after he is no longer here or unable to work.
He even added that he would not object if the "Ted" series continued using a digital version of himself, in case he himself could no longer participate or did not exist.
