TypeSafe AI’s Jev takes a different route from text-generating models: it returns probabilities, which the company calls “calibrated decisions,” and is intended for task automation.
TypeSafe has raised $870 million at a $7.5 billion valuation to develop the model.
The funding round was led by Andreessen Horowitz. Sequoia and existing investor DCVC also participated. TypeSafe claims that Jev is already used by a third of Fortune 500 companies.
Instead of writing text or code, Jev gives you probabilities for different choices. TypeSafe calls these results “calibrated decisions.” It also claims that Jev works much faster and uses far fewer text units, which the models process during their operation, compared to large language models. The company aims to use Jev for task automation.
TypeSafe was founded in 2024 by Diogo Almeida, a former OpenAI researcher, Sasha Sheng, a former Meta research engineer, and Erik Gafni, an engineer and entrepreneur.
