I still post to Medium, but Medium is an environment which rewards successful / interesting posts matching one of a few narrowly defined and curated buckets. Medium is a horrible place to go if you're looking to build a new blog because nobody will find your work unless you get published and the comments system discourages people from interacting with you, so you'll see some stats, get a few claps, but won't get a ton of engagement.

You NEED that engagement starting out because it helps you get to the point where you feel people are listening, you understand what people care about, and it helps you improve your own writing to the point where you WILL get published more consistently.

I mostly value Medium for its day-by-day analytics tracking and charting capabilities which are better than Dev.to's, but it should be a supplement to what you're doing elsewhere, not your main platform.

This isn't to underscore at all your point of Medium practicing what looks like a draconian approach to being a no drama zone, just to supplement some reasons on why Dev.to personally made an impact to me.

I agree with your first points, when I google-search myself the first results are my Medium posts. But the question I exemplified was not just "drama". It is a sad situation that happens often with women in IT. Hope you respect it and that I have expressed myself well.

I do. I've not been able to work with many women in the industry, sadly, but I recognize and respect the myriad of problems our industry has - including those exemplified by having not had many female development coworkers over the years in smaller organizations. Some of the demographic problems will take time to resolve, but the behavior problems can and should be addressed immediately.

Also, my apologies on the brief comment on the subject earlier - I was multitasking at the time.
