Since that "v. 4" will never be, and the current v. 3 is very actively maintained, I think (and hope) List functions will be around for the foreseeable future
CouchDB Dev here, list functions remain deprecated and will removed for the now new 4.0 line.

There is no roadmap as such, but we are currently landing a number of major features that eventually become 4.0.
