Your Business Central user-defined permission sets can be AL permission set objects in a few minutes, with real table names and not just numbers.
I built this free tool after converting permission sets by hand on a client upgrade project. Now you just drop in your files and download clean AL code.
What It Does
- XML and Excel/CSV input. Use the Export Permission Sets XML, or a permission set exported to Excel and saved as CSV.
-
Real table names. Drop in the .app files from your .alpackages folder, and
tabledata 17becomestabledata "G/L Entry". - One .al file per permission set, downloaded as a zip.
- Runs in your browser. Nothing to install, and your files stay on your computer.
- Easy enough for functional consultants too.
Example Output
permissionset 50100 "SALES SUPPORT"
{
Caption = 'Sales Support', Locked = true;
Assignable = true;
Permissions =
table Customer = X,
tabledata Customer = R,
table "Sales Header" = X,
tabledata "Sales Header" = RIMD,
page "Sales Order" = X;
}
