Hi Dev! We built an AI coding app

Hi DEV Community!

First, we just want to say thank you for letting us be part of the community. We're brand new here, so we wanted our first post to simply introduce ourselves and tell you what we've been working on.

We're the team behind Quick Forge,

Quick Forge started because we wanted a more user-friendly way to work with AI and code—something that didn't feel intimidating or overly complicated for someone who wasn't already an experienced developer.

So we decided to try building it.

After about a year of development, that idea became Quick Forge.

What is Quick Forge?

Quick Forge is an AI-assisted coding application designed around a simpler workflow.

We wanted to create an experience where you can work with AI, stream responses as they're generated, make changes to code, and stay in control of your project without feeling like you need to understand every advanced development tool before you can get started.

One thing that was particularly important to us was the idea of keeping control of your code. Quick Forge is designed around a local-first approach rather than trying to become the owner of your work.

But we're also very aware of something:

We're new to this.

We're not coming into the DEV community pretending that we know more about software development than experienced developers do. Quite the opposite.

That's one of the reasons we're here.

We'd love your feedback.

We've opened Quick Forge as a beta for $10/month, and we're looking for people willing to try it, push it, find things we missed, and tell us what they genuinely think.

What works?

What doesn't?

What's confusing?

What's missing?

What would make you actually want to use it?

We're interested in all of it—the good and the bad.

Our goal during the beta isn't just to get users. It's to learn from them and make Quick Forge better.

If you'd like to check it out, you can find us at quickforge.dev.

And even if Quick Forge isn't for you, we'd still love to meet people here, learn from the community, and hear your thoughts on what we're trying to build.

Thanks again for welcoming us to DEV.

We're excited to be here.
