How to Create a Pendant from a 2D Image in SelfCAD

Imagine turning a simple drawing, logo, or even a doodle into a wearable pendant. With SelfCAD, you can take a 2D image and transform it into a 3D model ready for printing. In this article, I’ll walk you through the process of creating a pendant from a 2D image using SelfCAD, showing how a flat design can be brought to life as a unique piece of jewelry.

Once you’ve launched the editor;
Click image to 3D on the toolbar


Click select image button to load new image, Click load image from tutorial button to add image


Set resolution to 250, tolerance to 0.9, amount to 0, simplify to true


Tick the checkmark to finalize image to 3D
Click scale on the toolbar; Set Y to 191.66, z to 5


Click ‘x’ to close transformation panel
From the modify category on the toolbar choose round object; Set smoothness to 3


Tick the checkmark to finalize round object
From the 3D Shapes category on the toolbar choose torus; Set ring radius to 4, tube radius to 1, tubular segments to 25, radial segments to 25, position x to 40, position y to 186, rotation x to 90.


Tick the checkmark to finalize torus
Click on imageGenerator-1 to select it. Click on mesh 4 to deselect
From the modify category on the toolbar choose simplify object; Set intensity to 3


Tick the checkmark to finalize simplify object
Click on mesh 4 to select it; Click Boolean on the toolbar; From the tool panel choose union.


Tick the checkmark to finalize union
