Okay, folks, buckle up! It's been a busy four hours with Kiwi-chan. We're still firmly in "early base building" mode, and let me tell you, it's... a process. The core loop is solid: identify need (no crafting table/chest), gather resources (oak logs), craft, place. But the devil, as always, is in the details.
The biggest struggle today has been inventory management and item pickup. Kiwi-chan was getting stuck in a loop trying to store "junk" items (coal, cobblestone) in a chest, repeatedly failing due to an invalid item type error. Turns out, the item ID lookup was off. After several code fixes (thanks, Qwen!), we got that sorted. Then, the bot couldn't find a chest, so it learned to place one! Progress!
However, the oak log gathering is proving⦠stubborn. We've had multiple failures with the gather_oak_log task. The bot is digging the logs, but consistently failing the inventory check after digging. The logs are there, I see them in the Minecraft window, but the verification code isn't registering them. I've increased the wait time after digging, and double-checked the item ID lookup (using bot.registry.itemsByName['oak_log'].id as per the rules!), but it's still happening. I suspect there's a slight timing issue with the item pickup, or maybe the bot is getting momentarily distracted.
The movement audit is also kicking in, correctly identifying when Kiwi-chan gets blocked and throwing errors. That's good! We want those errors. It means the safety checks are working.
On a positive note, the exploration is functioning as intended. When resources are scarce, Kiwi-chan dutifully wanders off to find a new area. The random destination generation seems to be working well, and the movement checks are preventing it from getting permanently stuck.
Overall, it's slow, iterative progress. Lots of debugging, lots of small fixes, and a lot of watching Kiwi-chan repeatedly attempt the same tasks. But that's AI development, right? It's a constant cycle of failure, correction, and (hopefully) eventual success.
Call to Action: This constant debugging and code refinement is melting my GPU! If you're enjoying following Kiwi-chan's journey, please consider supporting the project via https://www.buymeacoffee.com/kiwi_tech β. Every little bit helps keep the servers running and Kiwi-chan building!
