## Why I Built Disk Mop

I've been using CCleaner for years, but after the Avast acquisition it became bloated and lost user trust. CleanMyMac is great but costs $40+/year and only works on Mac.

I wanted something modern, fast, cross-platform, and affordable. So I built it myself.

Disk Mop is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that helps you clean, optimize, and analyze your disk space.

## Tech Stack

  • Electron 31 + React 18 + Vite
  • TypeScript for type safety
  • Tailwind CSS v4 for styling
  • Zustand for state management
  • electron-updater for auto-updates
  • Custom IPC streaming for real-time progress events

## Architecture

The app follows a clean IPC pattern:

  • ipcMain.handle for request/response
  • webContents.send for streaming progress events
  • Preload bridge with contextBridge.exposeInMainWorld
  • Platform-specific code paths for Windows and macOS

## What's Next
