Shapezo vs Halfmaps: A Practical Context-to-Concept Workflow for Site Modeling

Shapezo and Halfmaps are most useful when their responsibilities are explicit. Halfmaps provides fast geographic orientation. Shapezo develops and communicates design intent. One describes the territory; the other tests what a project should become within it.

Halfmaps as the orientation layer

Early site work often fails before detailed modeling begins because the team is not looking at the same context. Streets, parcels, adjacent buildings, landscape systems, waterways, civic destinations, and topography may be scattered across different files or understood only from memory.

Halfmaps is useful at this stage. It can establish a readable geographic base for site selection, corridor comparison, feasibility, and early review. The output is valuable when its confidence is explicit: record the source, capture date, scale, coordinate reference, and known omissions.

The model should be treated as an evidence layer, not as an unqualified survey. That distinction keeps a fast context product from becoming an undocumented production dependency.

Shapezo as the design-intent layer
