Abstract: Laptop LENOVO ThinkBook 16 G7 IML is coming with default installed SSD 1TB, and a slot for additional SSD. Here we are showing how to install additional SSD.

1 New Lenovo laptop

I bought a new laptop LAPTOP LENOVO ThinkBook 16 G7 IML WUXGA IPS, Ultra 7 155H, 32GB, 1TB SSD. Nice machine, 155H processor, 16 cores, 22 threads. I wanted to add an additional SSD: Samsung SSD 990 PRO 2TB.

2 Install steps

2.1 Remove 9 screws

2.2 Remove laptop back

Remove the laptop back. Be careful, the plastic is fragile and soft.

2.3 Locate laptop modules

2.4 Disconnect battery

2.5 Prepare additional SSD

2.6 Install additional SSD

2.7 Assemble laptop

Assemble it back in the reverse order.

3 Check if the installation is successful

3.1 Check from BIOS

Check that BIOS sees both old and new SSDs:

• SSD1: (1TB) WD PC SN740 SDDPMQD-1T00-1101
• SSD2: (2TB) Samsung SSD 990 PRO 2TB

3.2 Benchmark tests from Windows

I have no idea why those 2 benchmark tools give different results.
