I was running a wordpress blog for so long now, but with Hickups then and there by Hackers or by some plugin which got hacked. One reason was I was being lazy to protect it also another reason, I didn't bother much as all were within container so even if someone hack no access to outside system except the database with limitted acceas only to the blog database. Also I had regular backups. But in recent time the hacking on my website was too much and I was annoyed and wanted to go cleaner way.
I self host everything my Emails also outgoing SMTP is tunnelled through the mailgun. So decided to create a new static blog with my all existing content without breaking the already established URLs which were indexed by SEOs and had got backlinks as well.
Now a days my default starting point is ask Claude. I also loved the Medium website style and was looking for themes like that in the past. So thought this as an oppotunity to create a static blog using same content I posted over the years in the Medium inspired style. Also wanted the root cause analysis on how my blog got hacked, gave that job also to claude.
In short time claude came up with design for my new blog and automatically generated the JSON + HMTL based files to source the static blog. It prepared the site based on Eleventy (https://www.11ty.dev/) which compiles the static site in no time.
Also calude gave inputs on timeline and how exactly my blog got hacked. Also it cleaned up hidden contents embedded in my blog post by the hacker for creating backlinks to their spam websites. Within 30 minutes U had completed everything starting from wordpress website to complete static website and published in my Docker stack. Next stpe is to use some external self hosted commenting platform for allowing users to comment on my post.
