Back in March, we announced that VLC for Android's releases were blocked by Google Play.
We are glad to announce that we were able to fix it with Google.
This fix comes with a constraint though. To be able start releasing new versions again, we have to "clean" our Google Play state.
That's why, starting today, you will receive an "empty" 3.5.5 release.
This new version won't have any new feature or bug fixes but will allow us to start a new beta round in the next few days. Stay tuned!

Congrats! So you get to keep your signing keys and keep apps on Android TV?
We keep our private key private, yes. Android devices running Android 11+ will get the app from an app bundle, signed by Google. Other ones will receive the legacy apks signed with our keys. See: code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc-and...
And yes, Android TV is included. Google Play changed their automatic review to allow providing apks with Tv support. The developer has to provide a bundle with a min sdk of 30 alongside the apks to do so.
Nice 👍 Continued APK support would have been even nicer but I guess this is a lesser evil...
