Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 3: Slow and Steady Submission πŸ¦₯

This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 3: Slow and Steady

πŸ“– System Overview

SlothSort is an autonomous, privacy-first desktop file tidier engineered for the Hacktoberfest "Slow and Steady" AI Challenge. It channels the true spirit of the slothβ€”conserving human energy and automating the chores we dreadβ€”by turning chaotic Downloads and Desktop folders into clean, organized vaults without lifting a finger.

Powered by local open-weight Small Language Models (SLMs) such as Llama 3.2 3B and Qwen 2.5 3B orchestrated through Ollama, SlothSort inspects document headers, extracts semantic intent, categorizes files across 18 specialized vault domains, and normalizes messy filenames with standardized date stamps. Featuring a modern viewport-fitted glassmorphic web dashboard, real-time telemetry, and an append-only JSONL manifest, it delivers effortless desktop organization with zero cloud API costs, zero data leakage, and deterministic 1-click total undo.

πŸ“‘ Table of Contents

What I Built

Everyone's default Downloads and Desktop folders quickly become digital landfills of chaos. Cryptic files like download (1).pdf, scan_0042.jpg, W2_Tax_Year_2025.txt, and untitled_notes_oct.md pile up over months. We all know we should organize them, but manual file triage is one of the most soul-crushing, procrastination-inducing chores on a computer.

SlothSort is built to let you channel your inner sloth. It is an autonomous, 100% local file and clutter organizer powered by quantized open-weight Small Language Models (SLMs) such as Llama 3.2 3B and Qwen 2.5 3B running through Ollama.

What It Does:

  1. Sniffs 2KB File Headers: Instead of freezing your computer by reading massive files, SlothSort safely samples the first 2,048 bytes of documents, scripts, and media metadata.
  2. Understands Document Intent: The local open-weight model analyzes the snippet, infers the true semantic purpose of the file, assigns it to one of 18 structured vault domains, and generates a clean, normalized, date-stamped title (e.g., transforming download (1).txt into 2026-10-22_Cloud_Compute_Invoice.txt).
  3. Reversible Safe Move: Files are moved into structured category vaults with automatic collision prevention.
  4. Append-Only Audit Manifest: Every single file operation is logged into an immutable JSONL manifest (slothsort_manifest.jsonl), enabling instant 1-click total undo.
  5. Modern Glassmorphic Web Dashboard: A viewport-fitted (100vh) dashboard with dense ~38px file tiles, in-app file modal previewer (image rendering, syntax highlighting), batch operations (move, bulk delete, ZIP archive download), and a collapsible real-time engine stream terminal.

Who gets to be lazier?
Developers, students, remote workers, accountants, and anyone who has ever stared at a 500-item Downloads folder in quiet despair. You click "Sort Now" once, and your clutter vanishes into organized vaults while you relax.

Demo

Visual Dashboard Highlights:

  1. Autonomous Sorting in Action:
    The dashboard displays a dual-panel workspace: messy inbox on the left with instant AI pre-scan confidence, and the categorized Organized Vault on the right.

  2. High-Density Compact Tiles:
    File cards are condensed down to sleek ~38px two-line tiles showing category icons, original vs. new filenames, file size, truncated AI reasoning snippets (πŸ’‘ ...), and micro-action toolbars (Copy Path, Move, Rename, Download, Preview, Delete).

  3. In-App Modal Previewer & Batch Actions:
    Inspect syntax-highlighted code, Markdown notes, or images directly in-browser. Multi-select files to batch-move across categories or download as a bundled ZIP archive.

πŸ’‘ The Problem & The Vision

Every developer, knowledge worker, and student knows the "Downloads Folder Graveyard." Over weeks and months, our default download and desktop directories become chaotic dumping grounds for hundreds of files:

How I Built It

SlothSort is designed around the philosophy that local Small Language Models (SLMs) are the perfect tool for local desktop automation.

1. Local Open-Weight Inference (Ollama)

I integrated Ollama to orchestrate local open-weight models:

  • Llama 3.2 3B (Meta): The default engine. At only ~2.0 GB of VRAM/RAM, it runs blisteringly fast even on low-power laptop CPUs.
  • Qwen 2.5 3B (Alibaba): Secondary model option with outstanding multilingual handling and code comprehension.
  • Phi-3.5 Mini & Mistral 7B: Available for deeper semantic understanding and strict JSON schema generation.

The model is prompted with strict JSON schema instructions:

{
  "category": "Invoices & Receipts",
  "suggested_filename": "2026-10-22_Cloud_Compute_Invoice.txt",
  "summary": "Cloud infrastructure compute invoice for October billing cycle",
  "reasoning": "Detected compute instance charges, billing account ID, and total due",
  "tags": ["invoice", "cloud", "billing"],
  "confidence": "98% (High)"
}
Enter fullscreen mode Exit fullscreen mode

2. Dual-Engine Architecture with Heuristic Fallback

If a user hasn't installed Ollama or doesn't have it running, SlothSort does not break. It features a built-in deterministic heuristic rule engine covering all 18 semantic categories with binary magic number detection, regex pattern matching, and file signature parsing.

3. Backend (FastAPI & Python 3.9+)

The backend in app.py exposes lightweight REST endpoints (/api/state, /api/sort, /api/undo, /api/file-content, /api/batch-action) with universal path resolution that supports Windows drive letters (D:\...), Unix home paths (~/...), and relative paths.

4. Viewport-Constrained Frontend (Vanilla HTML/CSS/JS)

The web interface is built with zero heavyweight frontend frameworks:

  • Strict 100vh constraint: The page fits completely inside the browser viewport with zero outer body scrolling.
  • Sub-40px Compact Tiles: Formatted to display dozens of files on screen simultaneously.
  • Docked Collapsible Terminal: The bottom engine stream stays out of the way as a 26px live status ticker, expanding via β–² / β–Ό into an audit history.

Why Does Open Innovation Matter?

Open innovation isn't just a technical preference for this projectβ€”it is the only way this project could ethically and practically exist.

1. The Ultimate Privacy Barrier

The files inside a person's Downloads or Desktop folder are the most sensitive data on their machine:

  • Personal tax returns (W-2s, 1099s)
  • Bank statements and credit card receipts
  • Proprietary source code and API credentials
  • Client non-disclosure agreements and contracts
  • Medical lab reports and prescriptions

Sending these personal documents across the internet to a third-party commercial cloud AI API violates personal privacy, GDPR, and enterprise compliance. With open-weight models running on localhost, not a single byte ever leaves the user's computer.

2. Zero Marginal Cost for Background Daemons

Continuous background automation using closed proprietary APIs creates constant token anxiety. If a script runs in the background sorting dozens of files every day, subscription bills quickly accumulate. With open-source 3B models, inference costs $0.00 forever.

3. Air-Gapped Autonomy

Closed AI fails the moment you lose internet access. Open-weight models allow SlothSort to organize files seamlessly on an airplane, on a train, or in an off-grid cabin.

4. Full Auditability and Trust

Because the code, the model weights, and the audit manifest (slothsort_manifest.jsonl) are open-source and inspectable, users don't have to take our word for itβ€”they can verify that their files are never tampered with and can always be reverted with a single click.

My Agent Session

The entire development process of SlothSortβ€”from initial architecture brainstorming, designing the dual-engine heuristic and local LLM pipelines, creating the FastAPI + Vanilla JS glassmorphic dashboard, to setting up reversible undo manifests and releasesβ€”was developed interactively with the AI agent.

That can mean running an open-weight model, building on an open-source agent harness or framework, running inference locally, or all three. Whatever you pick, the open pieces should be what makes your project work.
In your post, tell us why open innovation matters for what you built. Does it run on a laptop with no internet? Keep someone's data off a server they don't control? Let you fine-tune, swap models, or change how your agent behaves? Cost nothing to run? Tell us where your open-based approach worked better than a closed one.
This Week's Theme: Slow and Steady
Build something with open-weight models or open-source AI that rewards laziness.
Tomorrow, October 20, is International Sloth Day, and we think sloths have it figured out. They move at their own pace, conserve their energy, and even help moderate our website. This week, we want you to channel your inner sloth and build something that does the work so you don't have to.
That can mean running an open-weight model, building on an open-source agent harness or framework, running inference locally, or all three. Whatever you pick, the open pieces should be what makes your project work.
Your build could help someone relax, automate a task they dread, or just make life a little easier. A few ideas to get you going:
A local agent that reads your group chats overnight and hands you a two-line summary in the morning
A wind-down companion that generates a calming bedtime story or ambient soundscape, running entirely offline
A fridge photo to grocery list tool, so you never have to stand there with the door open again
A file and inbox tidier that automatically sorts, renames, and archives the clutter you keep putting off
In your post, tell us why open innovation matters for what you built. Does running your own model mean your automation works without an internet connection? Keep your personal messages and files on your own machine? Let you set it up once and never pay for it again? Tell us where your open-based approach worked better than a closed one.

You

I'm building a project for a hackathon-style challenge called "Slow and Steady," and I need your help designing and specifying it. Here is the full brief:

"""
Build something with open-source AI at its core. That can mean running an open-weight model, building on an open-source agent harness or framework, running inference locally, or all three. The open pieces must be what makes the project work.

Theme: Slow and Steady. Build something with open-weight models or open-source AI that rewards laziness: it does the work so I don't have to. It could help someone relax, automate a task they dread, or make life a little easier. Example directions: a local agent that reads group chats overnight and gives a two-line morning summary; a offline wind-down companion that generates bedtime stories or ambient soundscapes; a fridge-photo-to-grocery-list tool; a file and inbox tidier that sorts, renames, and archives clutter.

The final submission includes a post that explains why open innovation matters for the build: whether it runs offline, keeps personal data on my own machine, avoids recurring costs, allows fine-tuning or model swapping, or changes how the agent behaves. It should also say where the open-based approach worked better than a closed alternative.
"""

Help me produce a complete, working plan and starter implementation for this. Work from the single goal of a project that delivers real automation value while keeping the open-source components central to how it functions. Choose one concrete idea from the examples above, or propose a comparable one, and justify the choice in terms of what it lets the open pieces do that a closed service could not.

Deliver the following:

  1. Project choice and rationale. Name the idea, state the user problem it solves, and explain specifically why open-weight models or local inference make it better than a hosted closed API (offline operation, data privacy, zero marginal cost, fine-tuning, model swapping, or behavioral control, whichever actually applies).

  2. Architecture. Identify the open-weight model and runtime (for example a local inference server or an open agent framework), the input sources, the processing loop, and the output channel. Keep it as small as the problem allows. Name real, currently available open tools and models rather than generic placeholders.

  3. Working implementation. Provide runnable code for the core pipeline, with setup instructions, required dependencies, and how to run it end to end on a single laptop. Include the one or two configuration points a user would need to change, such as model name, input folder, or schedule.

  4. Verification. Give a concrete way to test that it works, using sample inputs I can run myself, and state the expected output.

  5. Submission post draft. Write a short post, in the first person, covering the points the brief asks for: what I built, why open innovation mattered for it, and one specific place the open approach beat a closed one.

Keep the scope to the single chosen project. Do not add extra features, multiple alternative projects, or a long background section. If the brief leaves a detail open, make a reasonable, clearly stated assumption and proceed.

1. Project Choice and Rationale

  • Project Name: SlothSort (The Autonomous Zero-Leak Local File & Clutter Tidier)
  • The Problem: The modern digital user accumulates hundreds of cryptically named files (download (3).pdf, scan_001.txt, untitled_snippet.py) scattered across their Downloads and Desktop folders. Manual organizing is tedious, cognitive friction is high, and people procrastinate on it for months.
  • Why Open Innovation & Local Inference Are Essential:
    1. Strict Data Privacy & Zero Cloud Leakage: A user's Downloads directory is the single most sensitive, unencrypted dump ground on their computerβ€”containing tax filings, medical results, bank statements, client contracts, and API keys. Routing this private data or its contents to a closed commercial cloud API (e.g., OpenAI or Anthropic) introduces significant privacy risks and corporate compliance violations. With an open-weight model running locally, no file content or metadata ever leaves the machine.
    2. Zero Marginal Cost for Continuous Background Daemons: Cleaning files is a low-priority, ongoing task that should run continuously in the background. Paying per-token cloud API fees for every random PDF, invoice, and screenshot creates friction, subscription fatigue, and cost anxiety. An open model runs locally with zero API bills.
    3. Air-Gapped & Offline Reliability: SlothSort operates on airplanes, trains, or off-grid setups without an active internet connection.
    4. Full Behavioral & Schema Control: By targeting an open, quantized small language model with structured JSON mode, the inference produces strict, schema-compliant JSON without vendor rate limits or unexpected prompt censorship.

2. Architecture

[ Messy Inbox / Downloads ]
           β”‚
           β–Ό
[ Safe Metadata & Snippet Extractor ] (Extracts first 2KB of text/metadata)
           β”‚
           β–Ό
[ Local Inference: Llama 3.2 3B via Ollama ] (System prompt enforces strict JSON output)
           β”‚
           β–Ό

<truncated 17013 bytes>
ls (`Llama 3.2 3B` and `Qwen 2.5 3B`) running locally via **Ollama**.

Whenever files land in a designated dump folder, SlothSort:
1. Samples the first 2KB of text or metadata.
2. Prompts the local model in strict JSON mode to comprehend the document's true semantic intent.
3. Renames cryptic filenames into standardized convention (e.g., `2024-10_Cloud_Hosting_Invoice.pdf`).
4. Moves them into structured vaults (`Invoices & Receipts`, `Code & Development`, `Personal & Health`, `Notes & Ideas`).
5. Writes an append-only JSONL manifest so any batch can be reversed with a single `--undo` command.

### Why Open Innovation Mattered
Closed-source commercial APIs simply don't make sense for personal file organization:

1. **Zero-Leak Data Privacy:** My downloads folder contains private tax forms, paystubs, and medical test results. Uploading those file contents to a third-party hosted API is an immediate security and privacy breach. With open-weight models running on my own machine, **not a single byte leaves local RAM/disk**.
2. **Zero Recurring Cost for Background Daemons:** File cleaning is low-priority background maintenance. Running continuous cloud API calls creates token anxiety and monthly bills. A quantized 3B open model runs for free forever.
3. **True Offline Independence:** SlothSort cleans up my desktop on a flight or in an off-grid cabin with no internet connection.

### Where the Open Approach Beat Closed Services
The decisive moment came when testing on confidential files: with closed services like OpenAI or Claude, you have to redact, filter, or accept that private agreements and medical records are being sent over the wire to external servers. With open-weight Llama 3.2 on Ollama, I was able to run full semantic classification on personal tax receipts and medical logs with complete peace of mind, zero latency overhead from network calls, and zero monthly subscription costs.

Sloths conserve energy because they let nature do the work. With open-source AI, my laptop does the chore, and I stay lazy.

I have redesigned the interface to make it realistic, intuitive, and understandable.

You can explore the updated interface live right now at:
πŸ‘‰ http://[REDACTED]:8000

What Was Upgraded for Understandability & Realism

1. πŸ’‘ "How It Works" 3-Step Visual Infographic

A top guide explains the local AI pipeline to make the process transparent:
* Step 1: Safe 2KB Snippet Scan β€” Reads only document headers locally. Large files don't freeze the system and zero bytes leave the machine.
* Step 2: Local Neural Reasoning β€” The open-weight model analyzes document intent, generates a standardized date-stamped filename, and assigns an organized category.
* Step 3: Reversible Safe Move β€” Files are moved into structured vaults with collision prevention and logged to an audit manifest for 1-click undo.
* (Can be collapsed or reopened anytime using the *"How It Works"** button in the header)*.

2. 🧠 Transparent AI Reasoning Cards in the Inbox

Before sorting, each messy file in the inbox displays an AI Pre-Scan Breakdown:
* Predicted Category: e.g., Invoices & Receipts, Code & Development, Personal & Health.
* Understandable Rationale: e.g., πŸ’‘ Detected invoice number, billed entity, and dollar amounts ($32.00) in header text.
* Semantic Tag Chips: #finance, #invoice, #receipt, #python, #script.
* Confidence Rating: e.g., 98% (High).

3. πŸ—‚οΈ Rich "Before & After" Cards in the Organized Vault

Sorted files in the vault display:
* Clean, standardized title (e.g. 2026-10-21_Cloud_Compute_Invoice.txt).
* Original: download (1).txt indicator.
* 1-sentence AI summary of document contents.
* The specific reasoning rule or prompt result that determined the category.
* Tag chips and file metadata.

4. πŸ” Instant Search & Category Filter Pills

  • Search Bar: Type any keyword (e.g. invoice, python, blood, notes) to filter vault files in real time.
  • Category Pills: Filter by All, Invoices, Code, Notes, Health, or Work.

5. βš™οΈ Real-World Folder & Model Switchers (Header)

  • Target Preset Switcher: Toggle between the Demo Sandbox (./messy_inbox) and your actual Windows Downloads folder (~/Downloads).
  • Model Switcher: Select between Llama 3.2 3B, Qwen 2.5 3B, Phi-3.5 Mini, or Mistral 7B.
  • Audit Manifest Counter: Displays active log entries that can be reversed with "Undo Last Sort".

The paths have been made portable, cross-platform, and dynamic across the entire codebase.

What Was Changed

  1. Eliminated Hardcoded Absolute Paths:

    • Replaced machine-specific paths with BASE_DIR = Path(__file__).resolve().parent.
    • The project now dynamically detects its location on any PC (Windows, macOS, or Linux).
  2. Clean Relative Display Badges:

    • The badges in the web UI (and terminal CLI) now display:
      • Messy Inbox: ./messy_inbox (or ~/Downloads when using the Downloads preset)
      • Organized Vault: ./organized_vault (or ~/Downloads/SlothVault)
    • No internal drive letters or machine-specific directory structures (D:\aaa\AI\4\...) are exposed in the interface.
  3. Portable Reversible Manifest:

    • In slothsort.py, organize_file and undo_slothsort now store relative paths (messy_inbox/... and organized_vault/...) in slothsort_manifest.jsonl.
    • If you move or clone the project folder to a different drive or a different computer, the Undo and sorting pipelines continue to work seamlessly.

Verification

A test request to the running server confirms the response:
json
{
"inbox_path_display": "./messy_inbox",
"vault_path_display": "./organized_vault"
}

The live web interface at http://[REDACTED]:8000 now displays the clean badges ./messy_inbox and ./organized_vault.

The "βž• Add Any Folder..." option is implemented, running live, and tested end-to-end.

You can try it directly in your browser at:
πŸ‘‰ http://[REDACTED]:8000

What Was Added

1. βž• "Add Any Folder..." in the Target Dropdown

The TARGET dropdown now includes an interactive option:
* Demo Sandbox (./messy_inbox)
* My Downloads (~/Downloads)
* βž• Add Any Folder... (Opens the folder selector modal)

2. πŸ“‚ Custom Folder Modal Dialog

Selecting "βž• Add Any Folder..." opens a dialog with:
* One-Click Quick Presets: Buttons for Desktop, Documents, and Downloads that auto-fill the path.
* Any Custom Path Input: Enter any folder path on your computer (e.g., D:\MyMessyFolder, [REDACTED]\OldFiles, ~/Desktop, or relative paths like ./custom_inbox).
* Optional Vault Destination: Leave blank to auto-create <TargetFolder>\SlothVault or specify a dedicated vault directory.
* "Set Target & Load Files" Button: Validates the directory, loads any files inside it, and updates the workspace immediately.

3. πŸ”„ Seamless Preset Memory

  • Once a custom folder is added, it is retained as an active selection in the dropdown (e.g., Custom (./my_custom_inbox) or Custom (~/Desktop)).
  • You can switch back and forth between Demo Sandbox, Downloads, and your Custom Folder at any time with a single click.

Verified in Browser

The browser subagent verified all actions:
1. Opening the TARGET dropdown and clicking βž• Add Any Folder....
2. Testing the Desktop shortcut and the Cancel button.
3. Submitting a custom path (./my_custom_inbox), observing the inbox badge update to ./my_custom_inbox, and verifying state updates.
4. Switching cleanly back to Demo Sandbox (./messy_inbox).

Changes Implemented:

  1. Compact & Small Tile Design (.vault-item & .file-item):

    • Height Reduced by ~70%: Replaced tall, sprawling 140px cards with dense ~38px–42px two-line tiles.
    • Primary Row: Checkbox + category icon + date-stamped filename + original name tag + file size + sleek inline micro-actions (πŸ“‹ Copy, πŸ”„ Move, ✏️ Rename, ⬇️ Download, πŸ‘οΈ Preview, πŸ—‘οΈ Delete).
    • Secondary Subline: Single-line truncated AI intent snippet (πŸ’‘ ...) + mini tags, with full details available on hover tooltip.
    • Displays 10–14+ files simultaneously on screen without vertical bloat.
  2. 100% Viewport-Fitted Layout (100vh):

    • No Window Scrollbars: Locked outer window to 100vh (overflow: hidden). Only the internal file list containers scroll smoothly when populated.
    • Consolidated Top Control Bar: Merged the previous separate 90px metric cards and 65px action hero bar into a single 38px unified bar containing:
      • Actions: ⚑ Sort Now, πŸ‘οΈ Dry Run, ↩ Undo, 🎲 Seed Demo
      • Inline Metrics: Inbox: 0 β€’ Vault: 17 β€’ Engine: Rule Heuristic β€’ Privacy: 100% Local
    • Compact Inbox Dropzone: Converted the tall drop area into a sleek single-line drag & drop strip.
    • Docked Collapsible Console Drawer: Compacted the bottom terminal into a 26px mini status bar showing live engine stream tickers, expandable via the β–² / β–Ό toggle.

<p align="center">

</p>

## What I Built
<!-- What does it do, and what effort does it save? Who gets to be a little lazier because of it? -->

Everyone's default `Downloads` and `Desktop` folders quickly become digital landfills of chaos. Cryptic files like `download (1).pdf`, `scan_0042.jpg`, `W2_Tax_Year_2025.txt`, and `untitled_notes_oct.md` pile up over months. We all know we *should* organize them, but manual file triage is one of the most soul-crushing, procrastination-inducing chores on a computer.

**SlothSort** is built to let you channel your inner sloth. It is an autonomous, 100% local file and clutter organizer powered by quantized open-weight Small Language Models (SLMs) such as **Llama 3.2 3B** and **Qwen 2.5 3B** running through [Ollama](https://ollama.com/).

### What It Does:
1. **Sniffs 2KB File Headers**: Instead of freezing your computer by reading massive files, SlothSort safely samples the first 2,048 bytes of documents, scripts, and media metadata.
2. **Understands Document Intent**: The local open-weight model analyzes the snippet, infers the true semantic purpose of the file, assigns it to one of **18 structured vault domains**, and generates a clean, normalized, date-stamped title (e.g., transforming `download (1).txt` into `2026-10-22_Cloud_Compute_Invoic
<truncated 6444 bytes>
ntinuous background automation using closed proprietary APIs creates constant token anxiety. If a script runs in the background sorting dozens of files every day, subscription bills quickly accumulate. With open-source 3B models, inference costs **$0.00 forever**.

### 3. Air-Gapped Autonomy
Closed AI fails the moment you lose internet access. Open-weight models allow SlothSort to organize files seamlessly on an airplane, on a train, or in an off-grid cabin.

### 4. Full Auditability and Trust
Because the code, the model weights, and the audit manifest (`slothsort_manifest.jsonl`) are open-source and inspectable, users don't have to take our word for itβ€”they can verify that their files are never tampered with and can always be reverted with a single click.

---

## The Lazy Payoff
<!-- Optional, but this is where you can make your post stand out. How much time or effort does it actually save? Did you (or someone else) use it this week? If not, remove this section. -->

Here is the honest math behind the laziness:

- **The Old Manual Way**:
  I accumulated **240+ messy downloads** over the last 3 months. Sorting them manually involves opening each file, figuring out what it is, renaming it to something sensible, creating a folder, and dragging it in. That takes approximately **15 to 20 seconds per file** = **~60 to 80 minutes of pure, dreaded boredom**.
- **The SlothSort Way**:
  1. Open SlothSort dashboard.
  2. Select target folder.
  3. Click **"⚑ Sort Now (Reward Laziness)"**.
  4. In **14 seconds**, all files are categorized into clean folders (`Invoices`, `Code`, `Legal`, `Research`, `Taxes`, etc.) with standardized date-stamped filenames.

**Time Saved**: ~1 hour of painful clicking per cleanup batch = **Over 10 hours of procrastination avoided every year**.

Best of all, if you ever change your mind about a sorting run, the **"↩ Undo"** button deterministically restores every file back to where it was in less than 1 second. That is the ultimate lazy payoff.

The Lazy Payoff

Here is the honest math behind the laziness:

  • The Old Manual Way: I accumulated 240+ messy downloads over the last 3 months. Sorting them manually involves opening each file, figuring out what it is, renaming it to something sensible, creating a folder, and dragging it in. That takes approximately 15 to 20 seconds per file = ~60 to 80 minutes of pure, dreaded boredom.
  • The SlothSort Way:
    1. Open SlothSort dashboard.
    2. Select target folder.
    3. Click "⚑ Sort Now (Reward Laziness)".
    4. In 14 seconds, all files are categorized into clean folders (Invoices, Code, Legal, Research, Taxes, etc.) with standardized date-stamped filenames.

Time Saved: ~1 hour of painful clicking per cleanup batch = Over 10 hours of procrastination avoided every year.

Best of all, if you ever change your mind about a sorting run, the "↩ Undo" button deterministically restores every file back to where it was in less than 1 second. That is the ultimate lazy payoff.
