Android 12 Developer preview is out since February. There are couple of interesting features and capabilities added to the release that developers can leverage. Regarding the new Material You UI, it's too early to take a call, but the AppSearch API is worth taking a look. The NoSQL LocalStorage and PlatformStorage will enable apps that can do high data processing.
