We built a directory of Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers at https://rumblingb.github.io/mcp-server-directory, showcasing 26 live servers from the vishar-rumbling namespace on Smithery. Each server includes a Stripe link for monetization ($19/mo Pro, $99/mo Unlimited).
How we did it:
- Used the Smithery API to fetch server metadata (isDeployed, useCount).
- Generated a static GitHub Pages site with automated updates via GitHub Actions.
- Added Stripe Checkout links to each server's README, using Stripe Payment Links for instant monetization.
- Drove traffic via Dev.to articles, Twitter/X, and LinkedIn posts in our Build-in-Public channel.
Results:
- 26 servers live on Smithery (smithery.ai/servers/vishar-rumbling)
- Directory site: rumblingb.github.io/mcp-server-directory
- Stripe integration test: live charges appearing in dashboard.
This approach turns open-source MCP servers into a revenue stream while giving developers a discoverable registry. Try it out: browse the directory, click a server, and see the Stripe modal.
