100 Bytes Of Wisdom: Day 11

Alt Text

This is my take on some aspects of #impostersyndrome. You'll often time in software find yourself going "oh wow, they're soo good at this". And while that's true for now, it by no means rules out you also being that good at that thing in the future. If you think carefully, you'll be able to find something they think you're great at too. This is because of the simple reason they're better than you at this thing - you've spent more time on it.

So don't dwell on this too much and don't think of it as better/worse - think of it as more or less time spent. You can become good at anything you put your mind and time into. Good luck!

Heads up: As with any terse bit of advice, there will be exceptions of course, and subtleties and nuance that can't possibly be captured in a Byte of Wisdom. This has been what I've experienced, I'd love to hear yours in the comments too!
