Title: Nmapathy — The Most Useless Scanner That Roasts You Instead 💀
This is a submission for the DEV April Fools Challenge
What I Built
I built Nmapathy, a completely useless “network scanner” that looks like a serious cybersecurity tool… but instead of scanning targets, it scans you 💀
You enter a target (like an IP or domain), hit scan, and watch a dramatic hacker-style terminal do its thing…
Only to realize:
👉 The target is fine
👉 YOU are the vulnerability
It generates:
- Fake scan logs
- Emotional “open ports”
- Brutal roast reports
- A completely meaningless Clown Score 🤡
Example Output:
SCAN COMPLETE.
Target: google.com
Status: Secure
User: NOT SECURE ❌
----------------------------------
CRITICAL ISSUES FOUND:
- Motivation.exe not responding
- 17 tabs open, 0 work done
- Confidence running on trial version
- Overthinking service always ON
----------------------------------
FINAL VERDICT:
No vulnerabilities found in target.
All vulnerabilities found in YOU 💀
Because sometimes…
the real vulnerability is you.
Demo
-
127.0.0.1→ it tells you you're scanning yourself 💀 -
google.com→ it refuses and roasts you instead - random text → still gets judged

How I Built It
- HTML + CSS + JavaScript (Vanilla)
- Fake terminal typing animation
- Random roast generator
- Random “emotional ports” and “patches”
- A totally fake scoring system called Clown Score 🤡
No backend.
No APIs.
No real scanning.
No usefulness.
Just pure chaos.

Because:
It’s simple
It’s funny
It roasts the user directly
And honestly… people love getting attacked like this 😭
Final Thoughts
I started this thinking I’d build something small…
And accidentally built something that:
judges people
exposes habits
and provides absolutely zero value
Which means…
✅ Mission successful for an April Fools challenge
If this tool hurt your feelings…
Just remember:
It’s not a bug.
It’s a feature.
