NotebookLM export questions become confusing when PDF, Markdown, citations, flashcards and reference-manager records are treated as one category.
The destination decides the useful format. A readable archive may need PDF or Markdown. Anki needs front, back and source fields. Zotero needs structured metadata such as title, author, date, DOI and URL.
NotebookLM provides native routes to Google products. Other formats usually require copying, printing, restructuring or an extension-assisted export. These are separate workflows, and each loses different information.
The comparison image separates native support, a manual route and the NotebookBloom-assisted route. It is not a claim that every format contains identical data. A PDF can preserve appearance while losing structure. BibTeX can preserve fields while omitting a page layout.
Practical checklist
Use a public or non-sensitive notebook for the first test. Verify the output before deleting the intermediate file, and keep the product limitation visible.
