Is it:

- dev(elop) to somewhere (some aim)?

Dev.to in full, I know, means Develop Together.

I think I read it in one of their newsletters some time ago.
Yep. I have an old sticker (no idea where it is now or if they're still making them) that says dev.together :)
It's a good question. Maybe it was the only "DEV" domain available in an early moment.
It would be good to research about it :)
