SAFER INTERNET

The internet has become an integral part of our daily lives. With the rise of online shopping and online entertainment, the internet has made our world more connected 🔗and convenient 🌐📲. However, with these benefits come new challenges, and one of the most pressing challenges we face is ensuring a safer internet.

The significance of a more secure internet cannot be overstated. Online security is critical for safeguarding our personal information, avoiding cybercrime , and maintaining our privacy 🔏. We rely on the internet 🌐📲for almost everything these days, from banking 🏦and shopping 🛍️to socializing👥 and learning📚. As a result, we must take steps to make the internet a safer place for everyone.

> “A safer and secure digital world is not a luxury, but a necessity.”

  • Gunther Oettinger, European commissioner for Digital Economy and Society

With the internet playing an increasingly central role in our lives, it’s more important than ever to take steps to ensure our online safety 🌐🦺.

Strong password 🔑: A password should never be shared with anyone. Create a distinct and secure password for each online account by combining letters, numbers, and symbols.

Use Two-factor authentication 🔢🔐: “Two heads are better than one.” Enable two-factor authentication for extra security on your online accounts.

Maintain confidentiality of personal information 🛡️👤: Avoid online sharing of personal information such as your home address, phone number, and financial information.

Handling emails, use caution 📧⚠️: Watch out for shady emails, particularly ones that request personal information from you or point you to a website with a login page.

“Beware of little expenses; a small leak will sink a great ship.”

  • Benjamin franklin, founding father of the USA

Keep software up-to-date 🔁: To guard against security flaws, update your operating system, browser, and other program's frequently.

Since the last decade, cybercrime has grown at an alarming 📈rate. While most cyber crimes are committed to generate profit 💸for the perpetrators, some cyber crimes are committed against computers or devices directly in order to damage or disable them. Others make use of computers or networks to spread malware 👾, illegal information 🚫, images 🤳📵, or other materials🗃️.

There are several types of cyber crimes. Two of the most common types of cyber prime are Phishing and Ransomware attacks.

Phishing 🧑‍💻📩👾🎣:

Phishing is a form of online fraud where thieves pretend to be trustworthy organizations in order to deceive victims into disclosing personal information. Never open attachments or click on links from unfamiliar or dubious sources to prevent phishing, and always check the legitimacy of websites before inputting critical information.

Ransomware 👾💻⚠️:

A form of malware known as ransomware encrypts a victim’s files and demands money in return for the decryption key. Maintaining updated software and operating systems, routinely backing up crucial data, and avoiding accepting attachments or links from shady or unknown sources are all ways to prevent ransomware.

In conclusion, in our increasingly 📈digital world, a safer internet is crucial . We must take action to safeguard our privacy and personal data, as well as to stop cybercrime. We can all contribute to the development of a safer and more secure internet by being aware of our online activities and maintaining the most recent versions of our hardware ⚙️and software🧑‍💻.

> “The internet is the first thing that humanity has built that humanity doesn’t understand, the largest experiment in anarchy that we have ever had.”

  • Eric Schmidt, Google’s CEO
