Most C tutorials start with syntax. This one starts with a problem: a shopkeeper totalling a bill by hand.

In the first part of our C Learning Guide on TechVani, we walk through the full journey from a real-world situation to a working C program:

  • Define the problem precisely
  • Decide what data goes in and what result comes out
  • Choose the steps (the algorithm)
  • Write the C code
  • Compile, run and test it with real numbers

Every program in the guide is compiled and run before publication, and the printed output is shown next to the code, so you can verify each example yourself.

It is written for first-semester BTech students and complete beginners: no prior programming is assumed, and every term is explained the first time it appears.
