"Admin dashboard template" covers a wider range of products than almost any other template category. Some are free starters with real auth and a database wired in but a handful of pages. Some are huge paid kits with dozens of demo apps you'll mostly delete. Some are focused on one job - a SaaS admin, a CRM - and do that one job completely. They're all called the same thing, so it's easy to buy the wrong one. This is an honest comparison of seven worth your time, two of them ours, and which one fits which project.

What to check before you pick one

  • Breadth vs. depth - fifty shallow demo pages, or eight pages that each do a real job (user management, billing, reports). More pages is not automatically more useful.
  • What it needs to run - some templates need an auth provider key or a database before the first page loads; others run on mock data and leave the backend to you.
  • UI foundation - shadcn/ui, Material UI, Tremor, or custom Tailwind. This decides how every component you add later will look and behave.
  • Version currency - Next.js 16, React 19, and Tailwind v4 are current in 2026. A template a major version behind means an upgrade before you start.
  • Accessibility - dashboards are dense with tables, drawers, and menus, which is exactly where keyboard and contrast problems hide.

The 7 best Next.js admin dashboard templates in 2026

1. next-shadcn-dashboard-starter - Best free shadcn/ui starter

Kiranism's next-shadcn-dashboard-starter is one of the most popular free admin starters on GitHub: MIT-licensed, built on Next.js 16, React 19, shadcn/ui, and Tailwind. It ships an analytics overview with Recharts cards, a product form with react-hook-form and zod, a TanStack table with server-side search, filtering, and pagination, and a drag-and-drop Kanban board. Auth runs through Clerk, so you'll need Clerk keys before it boots. If you're comfortable on shadcn/ui and want a free, current foundation with good patterns, it's the strongest place to start - just expect to design the product on top of it yourself.

2. SaaS Dashboard Pro - Best designed SaaS admin

SaaS Dashboard Pro is ours, and it does one job: the admin side of a SaaS product. Nine routes - overview, analytics, users, billing, reports, team, settings, login, signup - each built out rather than stubbed. The overview is a bento grid with animated counters, a revenue chart, and an activity feed; Users has a filterable table with plan and status badges, MRR, and a slide-out detail panel; Billing has usage meters for seats, API calls, and storage plus invoice history; Reports has revenue-by-plan and churn tables. It's built on Next.js 16, React 19, Tailwind v4, and Recharts, with an "Apex" design system (midnight dark, electric-lime accent, Syne headings) you reskin from two CSS variables, in light and dark.

Every route is checked against WCAG 2.2 AA in both themes at desktop and phone widths, and the check ships with the template as npm run test:a11y, so you can keep it passing as you build. The tradeoff: it's UI-first. The data is mock data inline in each page, and there's no auth provider or database wired in - you replace it a page at a time with your own API. If you want sign-in and Postgres working on day one, the Vercel or Kiranism starters are the better fit.

See SaaS Dashboard Pro - SaaS Dashboard Pro - users, billing, reports, team, and analytics for a SaaS admin. Next.js 16, Tailwind v4, light and dark, WCAG 2.2 AA tested. From $49, one-time.

3. Elite CRM - Best for a CRM or sales pipeline

Elite CRM is our other entry, aimed at a different job: managing contacts, deals, and a sales pipeline. It has contacts with a table/grid toggle, a five-column Kanban pipeline with per-stage totals and days-in-stage risk flags, a deals table with multi-select and bulk actions, tasks bucketed into overdue, due today, and upcoming, plus analytics with a win/loss donut, conversion funnel, and rep leaderboard. Two pieces make it feel like a product rather than a set of pages: a Cmd+K command palette that searches contacts, deals, and tasks, and one global slide-over detail panel that opens any record without leaving the page. It's dark-first ("Indigo Console", Geist Sans and Mono) with a light theme, and carries the same shipped WCAG 2.2 AA check.

Same honest caveat: the data comes from a typed mock-data layer in src/lib/mock-data/, and the command palette searches that local data. No backend is included - the types are there so swapping in your own API is straightforward. If you need a general admin rather than a CRM, it's the wrong pick.

See Elite CRM - Elite CRM - contacts, deals, Kanban pipeline, tasks, and analytics, with Cmd+K and a global detail panel. Next.js 16, Tailwind v4, dark-first. From $79, one-time.

4. Minimal - Best for breadth on Material UI

Minimal, sold on the MUI Store, is one of the best-known paid admin kits, now on Next.js 16 (App Router) and Material UI v9. Its scope is enormous: e-commerce, analytics, banking, booking, file, and course dashboards; user, product, invoice, blog, job, and order screens; mail, chat, calendar, Kanban, and a file manager; and a full set of auth and error pages. Check the license tiers carefully: Standard is $69 but includes the JavaScript Next.js version only, TypeScript comes with Standard Plus at $129, and charging end users for the product requires the $599 Extended license. If your team is on Material UI and wants a page for nearly everything, nothing else here matches it.

5. TailAdmin - Best free Tailwind component breadth

TailAdmin's free Next.js edition is MIT-licensed and current - Next.js 16, React 19, Tailwind v4 - with a solid set of dashboard components, charts, tables, and form elements in plain Tailwind rather than a component library. A paid Pro version adds more dashboards, a much larger component library, and Figma source files; check tailadmin.com for current Pro pricing. It's a good fit if you want lots of ready Tailwind pieces and are happy to assemble the product yourself.

6. Tremor templates - Best for chart-heavy analytics

Tremor, now part of Vercel, is a React library built specifically for charts and data-dense dashboards, and it publishes several Next.js templates: Overview (KPI pages, retention charts, scenario analysis), Dashboard (charts, table filtering, bulk edit, billing), Insights, and Planner. The charts are the best-looking in this list. The caveat is version currency: the templates run on Next.js 14 or 15 with Tailwind 3.4, so plan an upgrade if you want Next.js 16 and Tailwind v4, and check the license terms on tremor.so before you build on them.

7. Vercel Admin Dashboard - Best minimal full-stack reference

Vercel's official Admin Dashboard template (Next.js 15, Auth.js, Postgres, shadcn/ui, Tailwind) is small on purpose: a products table with real database reads, real sign-in, and the App Router patterns done properly. You create the Postgres database during deploy and run the provided SQL schema yourself. It's free and an excellent reference for how the data layer should work - but it's a starting point, not a finished admin, so budget for building most of the screens.

How to choose

  • You want free, real sign-in and a database from day one, and you'll build the screens - Vercel Admin Dashboard, or next-shadcn-dashboard-starter for more pages.
  • You're building the admin side of a SaaS and want users, billing, reports, and team already designed - SaaS Dashboard Pro.
  • You're building a CRM or anything pipeline-shaped - Elite CRM.
  • Your team is on Material UI and wants a page for nearly everything - Minimal.
  • You want a big free box of Tailwind dashboard parts - TailAdmin.
  • Charts are the product - Tremor.

UI-first and full-stack templates aren't really competitors. A common setup is to take a designed dashboard for the screens and follow a full-stack reference like Vercel's for the data layer. Both of our dashboards keep their mock data in one place per page or one typed folder for exactly that reason.
