Did You Run Today?

Suddenly, I felt an urge to go for a run, so I started my journey.
I’m the kind of person who, when I feel something is meaningful, will immediately take action. I guess that’s one of my traits.

Whenever I run on the track, I often reflect on many things. For example, what went wrong today, how I should live tomorrow, how I can do things better, how to write a more efficient program, where that program went wrong, what the future of the IT industry looks like, what the latest trends will be, how Xiao X thinks, what I can learn from him, and what to do about the fact that Xiao X still owes me a meal, and which girl is so beautiful... In any case, if there’s something I didn’t do right today, trivial matters, or thoughts about the future, I tend to think and daydream about them.

As I circle the track over and over again, when I feel like I can’t continue, I think about strong individuals—how they made it through. I think about marathon runners, how they manage to finish the race. And then there are my dear parents, who’ve overcome such hardships, and so many people around me cheering me on. These thoughts give me endless strength and courage, helping me keep going and finish the remaining distance. When breathing becomes difficult and I can barely hear my heart pounding, when it feels almost unbearable, I think about what I’d do if I just collapsed right there. When you think you can’t go any further, just keep going, one step at a time, one belief at a time. Keep moving forward, and you’ll find yourself closer and closer to the finish line—victory will belong to you! When I pass the starting line again and again, I know I’ve run another lap. Every time I pass that line, I remind myself that it’s not the end but a new beginning! An offhand remark comes to mind at this moment: "When many people think something is impossible, keep going, because you might just be the one to turn the impossible into a reality." So, I keep moving forward.

When the run ends, I’m drenched in sweat, feeling thoroughly refreshed. All my worries are gone, all my stress released, all my emotions vented. It’s such a comforting and invigorating feeling. So, running is more of a spiritual cleansing.

If running is a lifelong belief, I hope I can keep going! To persistently do something requires a lot of willpower, so I treat running as a beautiful way to cultivate my perseverance.

Now, let’s talk about our IT industry. In our line of work, taking care of our bodies is especially important. Don’t wait until you’re sick to realize how important your health is. Don’t wait until you lose your health to regret why you didn’t take better care of it when you had the chance. Think about how much time we spend in front of computers every day—our hands and feet stay in one position, our brains work at full capacity. Over time, can we really handle it? When we’re young, maybe we don’t feel it, but as we age, can we still maintain this pace? Yesterday, a good friend of mine said, “Men who sit too long will get sick,” and I think that’s quite accurate. I won’t list all the negative effects here; you can easily look them up online. To ensure we have a healthy and strong body for a better life and personal development in the future, I urge everyone—no matter how busy you are, take some time to exercise every day. So, don’t hesitate, don’t wait, seize the beauty of youth, drop the heavy burden, and go run and work out! Remember, health is the foundation of success!

Every time I overcome an obstacle, I know I’m getting closer to success.
