Have you ever had the feeling that when you're interested in something or some activity, you can't help but dive in and try it with joy? I believe that those who achieve success in a certain field are often deeply interested in the industry they are involved in.
When I was filling out my college application, the direction was clear: either study something related to computer science or pursue medicine. Unfortunately, the college entrance exam knocked me down. Haha, but I’m still quite fortunate to be able to study the major I truly wanted. I’m very satisfied with my current major, and I don’t just like computer science—I am passionate about it. When you love something and work hard at it, achieving success will bring you joy.
Late at night, with a cup of water in hand, accompanied by the crisp sound of typing on the keyboard, I quietly enjoy the pleasure of coding. When I’m alone, my mind is calm like still water—clear and serene. I silently reflect on why the code I just wrote went wrong, or how to better understand a concept from database theory. Finding something you love to do in life is a kind of happiness, just like finding someone you truly love and having that love reciprocated.
With a goal, with direction, you won’t feel lost or confused. You’ll devote yourself fully to forging ahead, tirelessly striving forward—that feeling is incredibly liberating.
Yesterday, I came across a quote online that really resonated with me, so I’d like to share it with you all:
What is happiness?
- Doing what you love.
- Earning a living doing what you love.
- Achieving something in the field you love.
These words fit perfectly with us programmers.
Ten years from now, when I look back at the person I am today, I wonder if I’ll feel a sense of pride for having made the right choice and relentlessly moved forward. Because I did the right thing at the right time, never wasting a single moment. When I’m in my twilight years, reflecting on my life, I’ll surely smile and affirm the journey.
Our youth is fleeting. Find what you’re passionate about, find that heart that never slackens in its pursuit, and with unwavering determination and confidence that the wind will eventually carry you through, keep moving forward!
