HustleMate AI 🚀 — Your AI-Powered Side Hustle Assistant
This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 2: Side Hustle
What I Built
I built HustleMate AI, a simple AI-powered assistant designed to help students, beginners, freelancers, and small business owners manage their side hustles more easily.
Starting a small business can be difficult when you don't know how to write product descriptions, promote products on social media, or respond professionally to customers. Hiring someone for every small task can also be expensive.
HustleMate AI helps users:
- Generate attractive product descriptions.
- Create engaging social media captions.
- Write polite and professional customer replies.
- Choose a suitable tone for their content.
The goal is to save time, reduce the difficulty of content creation, and help people focus on growing their businesses.
Who would pay for it?
Freelancers, online sellers, student entrepreneurs, and small business owners could benefit from this tool. In the future, it could offer premium features for users who need more content-generation tools and customization.

The project is built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with an AI model accessed through an API-compatible endpoint.
How I Built It
I built HustleMate AI using:
- HTML5 for the website structure.
- CSS3 for styling and layout.
- JavaScript for form handling, prompt creation, API requests, and copying generated content.
- Qwen2.5-7B-Instruct as the intended default model, accessed through an OpenAI-compatible endpoint.
Users select a tool, enter their information, choose a tone, and generate content using the AI model.
I wanted to keep the project simple and accessible for beginners while demonstrating how AI can solve practical problems for people running small businesses.
Why Does Open Innovation Matter?
Open innovation matters because developers should have the freedom to experiment with AI models, understand how they work, and choose tools that fit their needs.
By building HustleMate AI around a model-compatible interface, I can experiment with different supported models instead of designing the project around a single provider.
Open models and tools can give developers more flexibility, encourage learning, and make it easier to customize AI-powered applications. They also create opportunities to explore privacy-conscious or locally hosted AI in future versions.
My project is an early step toward making AI tools more accessible to people who want to start a side hustle without needing advanced technical skills.

What I Learned
While building this project, I explored how HTML, CSS, and JavaScript can work together with an AI endpoint to create a practical application.
I also learned that building an AI product is not just about generating text. It is about identifying a real problem, making the solution easy to use, and considering security and accessibility.
My next goal is to improve HustleMate AI, test it with real users, and explore ways to make it more useful for small businesses.
