XL-680 Checkout: Payment QR Scanning Guide

Mobile payment reduced checkout to two motions: scan the goods, then scan the payment code. How fast that payment QR reads decides how long the queue gets. The XL-680 desktop scan & payment platform packs scan checkout and inductive payment into one countertop unit: payment codes read from around 25 cm, a buzzer and indicator light confirm every payment, and product barcodes

Why a dedicated payment-scanning device pays off at the counter

A checkout faces two very different kinds of codes. Product barcodes are printed on packaging, flat and predictable. Payment codes live on phone screens — varying brightness, anti-peep films, sometimes a sheet of glass or a plastic bag in between. Asking one handheld scanner to handle both forces the cashier to keep re-aiming, and every half-second lost shows up as a longer queue.

XL-680 Checkout: Payment QR Scanning Guide

A scan & payment platform flips the workflow: the unit sits fixed on the counter with its window facing up, the customer brings the phone over, and a payment code reads at around 25 cm. Reading is triggered by sensing — no button, no “closer please”, and the cashier keeps both hands on the goods. Product codes and payment codes share one device, so the counter needs only one unit.

Payment QR codes read from around 25 cm — customers just hold up the phone

Four key capabilities

1 ~25 cm long-range reading

Official documentation covers a 25–250 mm depth of field for payment QR codes: the customer lifts the phone naturally and the platform reads it from about 25 cm. A 640×480 CMOS sensor at 100 FPS captures screen and paper codes fast, with precision to ≥5 mil. Mainstream wallet payment codes read instantly, and the same sensor handles everyday 1D / 2D product barcodes. The lighting adjusts on its own, so staff never touch a setting.

2 Smart induction lighting

Anti-peep films, dimmed screens and backlit counters are everyday realities. White LED illumination with smart induction lighting keeps reads stable from 0 to 100,000 Lux, and printed barcodes with contrast ≥20% are covered too.

3 Buzzer + indicator feedback

The worst checkout moment is the second-guess — did it scan? A buzzer and an indicator light confirm every read clearly, even in a noisy store, saving a stream of verbal checks during busy hours.

4 Plug-and-play, adjustable, drop-tested

USB plug-and-play connects straight to existing registers, scale-POS units and checkout systems, compatible with Linux, Android, Windows and iOS. The reading angle adjusts freely for different counter heights, and the body survives 1.5 m drops. The 1.2 m cable and compact footprint keep the countertop tidy.

Applications

1 Supermarkets and convenience stores

Barcodes and payment codes alternate all day: one device handles both, and long-range payment reading trims one motion from every transaction. Rush-hour queues move faster when the payment step takes care of itself.

2 Restaurants and milk-tea counters

Small counters, fast service: customers scan and pay in one move while staff stay focused on packing and serving.

3 Pharmacies and fresh food stores

A compact single unit suits crowded weighing-and-checkout counters, mixing paper labels and phone screen codes. One unit, one cable — no second scanner crowding the scale.

4 Self-checkout and unmanned retail

Fixed at self-service stations, customers scan their own payment codes; sensing reads without a button, and buzzer plus light feedback keeps unmanned counters clear and confident.
