My First Hacktoberfest: Exploring Open-Source AI as a Student from SEUSL, Oluvil.

I am a second year ICT student at SEUSL Oluvil, currently participating in Hacktoberfest 2026.

For Week 3 Open-Source AI Challenge, I explored how open-source AI models can help students like me learn faster. I tried Ollama to run small models locally and learned how AI can work without expensive APIs.

As someone from Oluvil, attending events mostly online, Hacktoberfest motivated me to start contributing to open source. My goal is to build small tools for our university community.

This is just my beginning in open source. Excited to learn more!
