5 AI Trends For The Next 5 Years

AI is rapidly evolving, I had many opportunities to work with some of the leading AI researchers and according to them, AI is going to change the world in the next 5 years. Here are the top 5 AI trends for the next 5 years that you should know as a developer.
PS - Not another chat-GPT article 😅

Rise of Federated Learning

Federated learning is a machine learning approach that allows multiple devices, such as smartphones or another internet of things (IoT) devices, to collaborate and learn a shared model without the need to share raw data. In this approach, each device trains a local model based on its own data, and then the local models are aggregated to produce a global model.
With the increase in the computational power of these devices and dedicated onboard AI processors, I believe that we will see a rise in the use of federated learning. This will be a game-changer for the privacy of the users and will also help in the development of AI models for edge devices.

The Emergence Of Explainable AI

Explainable AI (XAI) refers to artificial intelligence systems that can provide explanations for their decisions, predictions, or actions in a way that is understandable to humans. The goal of XAI is to create AI systems that can be trusted and understood by people, which can be particularly important in situations where the consequences of AI decisions have significant impacts on people's lives, such as in healthcare, finance, and law.
XAI will become a very important aspect of AI. It will help in the development of trust in AI systems and will also help in the development of AI systems that are more transparent and understandable.

HiveMind/Decentralized AI

HiveMind AI is an artificial intelligence system that is designed to work in a decentralized manner, using a network of interconnected devices or computers to process and analyze data. This could involve the use of techniques such as federated learning, which allows multiple devices to collaborate and learn a shared model without the need to share raw data.
With the rise of 5G and the increase of Electric Vehicles, I believe this technology is inevitable. This will make AI systems more robust and will also help in the development of AI systems that can work in a decentralized manner.

More Robust Multilingual AI

Multilingual AI refers to artificial intelligence systems that are able to process and understand multiple languages. This can be particularly useful in situations where there is a need to interact with people who speak different languages, or in scenarios where data is available in multiple languages.
This means more people who don't speak English will have access to Modern AI. This will reduce the language barrier and will also lead to more AI acceptance. We can already see the rise of this technology in Generative AI Models like GPT-3, Facebook's No Language Left Behind, and HuggingFace's Big Science.

First Quantum AI

Ok, this is a bit of a stretch but I believe at least in a lab setting, we will see the first steps toward Quantum AI. Although, Quantum computers are still in the early stages of development, they have the potential to solve certain types of problems much faster than classical computers. This means that quantum computers can solve problems that would take classical computers millions of years to solve in a matter of seconds.
An AI powered by a Quantum Computer will be the next step in the evolution of AI. This will not only be a game changer for AI but will also be a game changer for the world of Physics and Mathematics.

Conclusion

The future of AI looks very promising. We can already observe the rise of some of these technologies. I believe that the next 5 years will be very exciting. What a wonderful time to be alive! 🤩.
