Anthropic Open-Sources FlashProve, a Cryptographic Birth Certificate for AI Models

Anthropic open-sources FlashProve: cryptographic proof of a model identity in 17 seconds

Anthropic has open-sourced FlashProve, a zero-knowledge system that lets anyone mathematically prove an AI answer really came from the model it claims to be - no weights required, verified on a home CPU in about 17 seconds.

Key points

  • Built on zkSNARKs; tested on Meta's Llama 4 Maverick (400B MoE, 17B active).
  • Roughly 110 tokens per second proof speed on one H100; about 18.78 MB per proof; about 17 seconds CPU verification.
  • Apache 2.0 license, code on GitHub. Proves the source model, not correctness, and is not yet deployed.

Why it matters

As model APIs multiply, provable model provenance becomes a trust primitive: you can verify which model produced an answer without the provider revealing its weights.
