I Tested Dozens of AI Tools for Work — Here Are the Ones That Actually Saved Me Time

Over the last few months I’ve been experimenting with different AI tools. New platforms seem to appear almost every week.

But there’s one problem: most of them aren’t actually useful in real work.

Many AI tools look impressive on their landing pages, but once you start using them for real tasks, they either feel limited or simply don’t save much time.

So I decided to run a small experiment.
For a few months I tested different AI tools and kept only the ones that actually improved my workflow.

Here are a few that turned out to be genuinely useful.

  1. Perplexity AI

This is one of the most interesting AI tools I started using recently.

In simple terms, it works like a next-generation AI search engine.

Instead of opening dozens of browser tabs, Perplexity analyzes multiple sources and gives you a clear answer instantly.

I mainly use it for:

quick research
finding technical information
exploring new tools
learning unfamiliar topics

Sometimes it reduces research time by 3–4x compared to traditional search.

It’s especially useful when you need to quickly understand something new.

  1. Runway

If you work with visual content or video, this tool is extremely powerful.

Runway allows you to:

generate short videos
animate images
quickly create visual concepts

In many cases, you just upload an image, describe what should happen in the scene, and the AI generates a short video clip.

For prototyping and presenting ideas, this can save a lot of time.

  1. Synthax

This is a tool I discovered recently, but it simplified my workflow quite a bit.

One of the biggest problems with AI tools today is that they are scattered across many different platforms.

You constantly switch between services.

Synthax solves this by acting as an* AI tools hub*, where multiple models and generators are available in one place.

From a single interface you can access:

AI chat tools
image generators
sound generation
different AI models

In practice it works like a single dashboard for AI tools.

For me the biggest advantage is that I no longer need to open dozens of different services.

Final Thoughts

AI tools won’t replace skilled professionals.

But they are incredibly useful for:

speeding up routine tasks
generating ideas
prototyping concepts
testing ideas quickly

If you integrate the right AI tools into your workflow, you can save a significant amount of time.

Personally, some tasks that used to take hours now take just minutes.

If you use interesting AI tools in your workflow, feel free to share them in the comments.
I’m always curious to discover new ones.
