I'm currently working remotely from home while also studying in different city. My boss And company (30+ people) were really positive about this.
I must agree, that working from familiar environment (even though I moved to that other city) is much more productive and relaxing, than working in the office, but I'm sometimes finding it difficult to stay productive for a long time... The home environment is perhaps much too comfortable to force myself to work instead of other things, For example... I have to cook lunch for myself, I turn on some tv show while eating, then I tend to go on Reddit or dev.to and suddenly half the day is gone and I achieved... basically nothing.
I love working from home, I have become much more productive in the past months and overcame my daily procrastination routines, yet it takes a lot more discipline and love for the job, than getting up in the morning and going to the office.
Thanks Martin, you're definitly right! You need lots of discipline to be able to work from home. That's one of the reasons I think it's good to mix working remotely with hanging out in the office (if you're able to commute to the office every now and then). It may be possible to collect some tasks and process all of them productively and highly focused on one or two days of the week at home.
