Over the last 10 years we've seen far fewer innovations in the web than in the previous 10, so I see that trend continuing, with the web becoming ever more corporatised. Everything is a brand trying to make ad/sponsorship money, or a paid service.

Now that the gold rush is over, there is less incentive to innovate, so things will stagnate. Innovation will move on to other frontiers and the web will become like the highstreet.

That's not to say there won't be web-adjacent innovations, but the walled gardens of apps are a lot more seductive and monetisable than websites currently are, and they will still use technologies that the web brought us.

Backends don't really matter, so long as the technology is supported. Docker means that you can roll your own setup and it will be supported on most platforms. The most used now will probably be the most used in the next 10 years, so long as they remain stable.

Rust seems pretty popular for side projects at the moment, so perhaps there will be a breakout Rust system doing something like Django. Maybe even something like React, with web assembly.
