Building an AI Mental Health Platform from Scratch (With $0 and a Dream)

Hey DEV community,

I'm a student in Nigeria, and I’m currently building Sentimind — an open-source AI-powered mental health platform that provides emotional support, intelligent recommendations, and a safe space for users to express themselves.

The idea came from watching so many people around me struggle silently with their mental health — not because they wanted to, but because help was inaccessible, expensive, or stigmatized.

What I'm building:

Real-time mood detection via AI

Personalized guidance for mental wellness

Fully private, ethical architecture

A 24/7 always-on digital companion
