I've been a professional C, Perl, PHP and Python developer.
I'm an ex-sysadmin from the late 20th century.
These days I do more Javascript and CSS and whatnot, and promote UX and accessibility.
Howβs it going, I'm a Adam, a Full-Stack Engineer, actively searching for work. I'm all about JavaScript. And Frontend but don't let that fool you - I've also got some serious Backend skills.

What is it about that number that makes you feel good? Did you feel the same at 17000 (if you noticed)?
Yes of course, it's an achievement to feel like I have wrote something engaging and I have worked hard to keep writing engaging posts, I felt the same way at 100
Do you notice how many people follow others and compare yourself with them?
No because that statistic is anonymous and even if it wasn't I don't compare myself to others if I cannot have the same experience of others then how could I know!
... did you feel bad about yourself when you had fewer followers?
Yes In the beginning I was less confident and by writing I grew in confidence
Do you like to wrangle statistics in general? Do you have any other metrics you're following?
Yes I do, this is one is something that helped me out and it's not uncommon for me to follow other statistics
I can see your upset Ben?
Sure, you can earn more respect for doing something great, but as a baseline, just respect everyone. Just do it.
Was your comment meant to be sarcastic because I felt like it π, just saying, these are your words

No, I'm not trying to be sarcastic!
I just don't normally have the opportunity to ask people about their stats without coming across as weird... which I obviously still do :/

My brother and I where in foster care together, one thing we always did when everything else changed was to build computers, so tech had always been a natural fit, I wanted to do something arty and creative, I knew that, and I kind of liked graphic design and making magazine layouts since I was 16 in media studies class. So you see a series of small puzzle pieces stacked up, I eventually needed to make some money and websites seemed like a good way Forward, there were no jobs at the time π and I kind of sucked at interviews. So I came for the money, I stayed for the JavaScript and the puzzle solving nature of development. Thanks Pandademic!
