TaskMaa-ster

This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Weekend Challenge: Build for a Friend

The Inspiration: My Maa's Morning Routine
If you know my mother, you know her mornings are strictly scheduled. She wakes up early, sweeps the house for an hour, drinks her morning tea, washes the pots, and prepares breakfast for everyone.

But her biggest frustration?
Assigning us a chore and watching us forget to do it. She has strict rule: if she gives you a task, you are not allowed to sit in one place until it is finished. Keeping track of who finished what is a mental load she shouldn't have to carry.

For the Hacktoberfest "Build for a Friend" challenge, I decided to build a tool that solves this exact problem for her.

Code

How I Built It

I kept the architecture fast and simple using Python. The core engine runs on the open-source python-telegram-bot library. By connecting this to an active Telegram API token, the bot can run endlessly in the background, freeing my mother from having to manage my chores.

Why Does Open Innovation Matter?

Building this project reminded me why open-source tools are so incredible. Using just a few lines of open-source Python code, I was able to build a hyper-localized, personalized tool that directly improves my mom's daily life. Open innovation empowers everyday developers to solve the quirky, unique problems found right inside their own homes.

My Agent Session

Pair Programming Shoutout:
I built TaskMaa-ster with the help of Gemini as my AI thought partner. It helped me brainstorm the TaskMaa-ster pun, debug a tricky Telegram API timeout caused by my local ISP, and structure the Python JobQueue logic so I could get this lightweight version running just in time for the deadline!
