A cheap website and an expensive one basically do the same thing.
This is one of the most expensive beliefs a small business owner can have.
Here's why it's wrong.
A cheap website usually means a $300 template, a random theme, and whatever plugins someone found for free. It looks fine on day one. Nobody tells you what's actually missing until months later, when you're wondering why the phone isn't ringing.
What you don't see with a cheap build:
No one checked if your site loads fast on a phone.
No one wrote your homepage to explain what you actually do — it just says "Welcome to [Business Name]."
No one set up a way to track where your visitors are even coming from.
No one made sure your contact form actually sends you the message.
None of this shows up when you glance at the homepage. It shows up three months later, in the number of calls you're not getting.
An expensive website isn't better because it "looks nicer." It's better because someone thought through the parts a business owner never thinks to check — speed, clarity, tracking, and whether the site actually leads someone to contact you.
Two websites can look almost identical and produce completely different results. The difference isn't the price tag. It's whether anyone built it to actually bring you customers, or just built you a page that exists.
If you're not sure which one you have, that's worth finding out before you spend another dollar on ads driving traffic to it.
