Zapier Alternatives 2026 — I Tested Make, n8n, and Kept One

I've been using Zapier for years. It's the default choice for automation, and I never questioned it until the monthly invoice started climbing alongside my workflow count. So I actually tested the alternatives.

The numbers are stark. Zapier's $19.99 entry plan gives you 750 tasks/month. Make.com gives you 10,000 operations for $9. That's 13x more capacity at half the price, with the same integrations and native support for conditional logic.

n8n is even more capable at scale and can get close to free if you self-host, but you're managing your own infrastructure. That tradeoff isn't worth it for most solo builders or small teams without engineering resources.

I tested all three across real workflows: multi-step automations, conditional branching, error handling. The migration from Zapier to Make took about 20 minutes per workflow and was lower-risk than I expected.
