No-Code is advance Microsoft Office. It will not replace traditional development. Do you know Macro and VB Script in Office? In Microsoft Access you could design the forms, collect data, store it and do some processing, that was targeted to IT aware people (not the developers).

Today's no-code tools are not for developing mainstream IT products and solutions, rather for internal data collection/analysis and quick projects which will not require long term maintenance.

Anyone investing in no code should first understand, where the data is stored and who can control it, in terms of Microsoft Office, Access and other products, we had data stored on our machines. No code software is dangerous, one fine day they can terminate your account and boom, you are gone.

Everybody is in business of stealing Intelligence that is stored in the form of relational database, when you are creating an application on no code platform, you are populating their database with your intelligence.

No code has by far very limited application, and is over hyped, many app building tools came in market for last 5-10 years, and almost all of them vanished. Traditional development and having control over software and data is prime responsibility of any developer. I doubt you could easily take away that.

I think your concerns are valid..But low code platform are growing in strength...we already have tool that can convert figma design into real code..react,vue or html css...
I think no-code platform are going to replace some of front-end developer jobs... I am actually happy...Now I can involve in more deeper problems which needs innovation...Life just got better...

I agree except the part where you say it will replace jobs.
I don't think low or no code is here to take away jobs. Because of two reasons

  1. The low or no code platforms (atleast the new rising ones) will need frontend engineers
  2. In a business, the use of low / no code will require individuals to be well-versed in them and frontend engineers will be there to take up the job.
