My Views On AI

Hello, everyone.
I'm happy to post my feeling to here.
I think AI as just a new tool that can not fully operate on its own in all cases and hence must be steered by a professional for optimal results. This means, the type/scope of our work one changes, but the fundamentals (systems thinking, SWE best practices, communication with peers, defining goals and acceptance criteria, ...) stay the same - for now.
The big question of course is when AI will be able to operate fully autonomous and in which area.
A friend of mine mostly automated the embedded software development from start to finish so that he merely has to decide what gets build and check the end result. He might have to steer the architecture and system requirements a bit from time to time, but the AI will be running for longer and longer as AI models and harnesses improve.
So, software development seems to be "a solved problem" in certain situations and I am not sure what it means for the industry as a whole.
I think that there will be situations that require more human intervention due to safety, security, performance, tight regulations etc. and other situations that have fewer constraints, are maybe more driven by features instead of the before mentioned and can therefore be created on demand by AI for the customer.
Furthermore, I think that our reliance on software will grow as more and more software is generated ... and unless all that is managed by other AI systems, it will require some level of human involvement.
So in essence, I think there will still be technical work that will require systems thinking, knowing the technology etc but it will look very different from what we have been doing so far.
In the far future, of course, all work may be automatable by AI ... but even then, we might decide to not automate certain work, because customers want to talk to a human instead of a machine and, more important, only humans should be able to make decisions that involve liability.
What do you think?
My bottom line: From a company's perspective, it does not make sense to use AI to get rid of humans while it is an oppotunity for all other companies to provide a better and cheaper product/service which will attract more customers. Choosing the status quo (current level of quality) is choosing to lose. Choosing AI + humans to achieve more in shorter amounts of time gives you an edge over your competition. This allows you to capture more market share and grow. This seems the logcial way forward to me.
If you are interested in working together, or if there is a problem you would like me to help solve, please let me know!
Thanks for your attention.
