This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 1: Touch Grass
What I Built
An Asado "Maker" (just a helper :D). One of the best way to get outdoors is to go out and do some BBQ grilling, and even better when you trying out South American BBQ: ASADO!
The Asado Maker helps you cook your ASADO from style all the way to picking up the meat, preparing the fire and making sure you are properly cooking the food.
Beside giving you instructions you can snap picks during the process and it will assert if you are on the right track or what you need to do.

Demo
Feel free to play with the prototype here: Asado.MAKER
🤞 hopefully the cheap tiers of Digital Ocean and Open Router can make this possible.

How I Built It
This was the fun part... I took it as a challenge to evaluate open weight models; the whole project was built inspired by the Hacktoberfest streams. The project was built using OpenCode powered by Big Pickle, and used Kimi as well to do some supporting queries/research. Used several of the skills shared during those sessions, like caveman, frontend designer and ponytail. The app is using OpenRouter Qwen3 VL 8B Instruct to analyze pictures and return feedback. The original idea was to also host and train a model with Asado Literature, that will be a to do for the next iteration.
Why Does Open Innovation Matter?
This was a wake up call about open models. They are powerful, I'm pretty pumped by the results, maybe a tad slower that frontier models but the results are just as good as any other model from power houses. The fact that you can run them basically free is just mind blowing and quality wise nothing to envy.
