my journey into tech

My name is Abraham Oroghere. I want to write on my journey into technology.

Ever since a teenager I’ve had passion for computers and digitization. I just love the concepts and idea of computers, browsing, downloading, video games and other computer services.
Also the idea of computer making work easy also inspired me to love tech because I always had wild imaginations of building or creating wonderful sites that could make work easy for people especially my mum due to the nature of her business.
So my journey into tech started after my secondary school and my dad saw my zeal for computer so he enrolled me into a computer institute prior to when I will write jamb and enter into the university. So for 6 months I went to computer training institute where I learnt several basics on computer, typing, using Microsoft PowerPoint, excel and other few computer basics. After graduating from computer institute I started doing little jobs and I got/bought myself a laptop which I used to improve my learning experience and get more ideas about computers and information technology.
After that I gained admission into the University (Delta state University, Abraka, Delta State Nigeria) to study Electrical Electronics and Computer Engineering. In my university days I did well more in my computer courses than my electrical courses because of my passion for tech, but we were later streamlined to focusing on studying the Electrical Engineering aspect.
My zeal for technology and computers kept increasing and during my NYSC service year I worked with NIMC(National Identity Management Commission) where I was enrolling people for national id card using computers and capturing their bio-metrics and other details. I felt fulfilled because I was helping people of that community solve their problems relating to their national id card and other bank related issues.
I felt happy but it was just a one year service so I left after my service year but still searching for where I can get more on computer and provide solutions or solve problems through technology till I met a friend who told me about CodeLab by skillhub. i made inquiries and I was told if I was taken by codeLab I will be given scholarship to study computer programming and become a full-stack software engineer. Becoming a software engineer has always been my passion and codeLab is helping me achieve this dream.
I went for the interview and fortunately I was among those given the scholarship to study in the codeLab academy to become a full-stack software engineer.
It has not been an easy journey but it is definitely worth it. codeLab helped me to know everything I need to know and how I can impact my community positively by creating wonderful, sustainable and lasting solutions that can improve our society.
I want to use this medium to say thank you to CodeLab by skillhub for the opportunity they gave me, I’m really grateful and I’m super proud of CodeLab by skillhub and the work they are doing, may God Almighty continue to bless them and crown their effort with greatness.
With codeLab I know I can create lasting solutions to improve my community, society, country and the world at large and also find fulfillment that at last I’m a certified software engineer.
